Crack fic, told with tongue firmly in cheek.

Child's Play

by Aithine

Rodney stared in horror at the piece of paper in Radek's hands. "You have got to be kidding me."

"Do I look like I'm kidding?"

"Did you mysteriously hit your head on something? Or ingest some sort of poison that's caused you to revert back to adolescence?"

Radek grimaced slightly, but stayed steadfastly in place, blocking Rodney into the corner of the lab. "No, I did not. Colonel Sheppard requested that I find you, perform the appropriate actions as instructed on this sheet of paper, then report the results back to him."

"How the hell did he sucker you into participating in this farce?"

"At heart, I am secretly a romantic," Radek replied, rolling his eyes. "How do you think? He promised an entire day's worth of help with any technology that needed ATA gene."

Rodney stopped scowling and perked up. "He did? Oh! We could finally get that display to work if he'll sit still long enough! Fine, give me that." He snatched the paper out of Radek's hands and stared at it.

"Oh. My. God." Rodney gripped Radek's shoulder hard, fingers digging painfully into the muscle. "Did you see the colonel touch anything that would have removed his brain?"

Radek rolled his eyes again. "Just fill it out and we can get lots of discoveries made today."

"Fine. But if you tell anyone about this," Rodney let go of his shoulder and poked Radek in the chest, "your lab partner will be Kavanagh for the rest of your life."

"Yes, yes, I am very scared."

Rodney snorted and turned to the lab table and started scribbling, muttering to himself in disgust about "idiot pilots" who had "obviously flown too close to the sun one too many times." He finished up with a flair, then folded the paper in half and handed it back. "There. Run back to your second master and tell him he's insane."

Radek refrained from rolling his eyes yet again and walked to the door of the lab, where he was nearly knocked to the ground just outside by an overly enthusiastic Colonel Sheppard, who snatched the paper out of Radek's hands and read it, the ridiculous smile on his face growing with every insult Rodney had written.

Sheppard clapped him on the shoulder and grinned. "Thanks, Dr. Zelenka! Let me know when you want my help." And with that, Sheppard walked through the lab door.

Radek heard the start of a conversation as the doors shut behind Sheppard.

"You really do care! I'm touched, Rodney."

"Yes, touched in the head."

"Pay up, he—"

Radek adjusted his glasses as he stared at the closed doors and wondered if those two really thought they were fooling anyone. He grinned to himself; Dr. Weir would be greatly amused by this incident, and would probably give him the smile that was like the sun bursting forth from the clouds after a storm. He hurried off towards the nearest transporter, eager to share this over a cup of hoarded coffee.

A direct result of kageygirl's comments on my rant yesterday. All. Her. Fault.

HG helped come up with options on the silly graphics and made sure I didn't miss any words elsewhere; Ophidiae mocked me, laughed at it and gave me a title. *vbg* Thanks, ladies. ;)
